Terms & conditions

Last updated 2026. Plain-language summary of how Trax works.

1. What Trax is

Trax is a record-keeping tool. It helps you capture expenses, receipts, mileage, income and tax documents throughout the year and organize them by tax year. It does not prepare, review, or file tax returns.

2. Not tax advice

Nothing in Trax — including category suggestions, mileage rates, deduction estimates, and calculators — is tax, legal, or accounting advice. Figures shown are estimates for planning only. Always confirm your filing position with a qualified tax professional.

3. Your records, your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of everything you enter, and for keeping the underlying substantiation the IRS requires. A reconstructed mileage estimate is not a contemporaneous log, and Trax labels it as such.

4. Your data

Your records belong to you. They are stored privately and are visible only to you, plus any CPA you explicitly connect to your account. You can export a full copy of any tax year, and deleting your account removes your data.

5. Accounts and security

Keep your sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Sensitive identifiers you choose to store, such as an SSN, are kept private to your account and are never shared with a connected CPA unless you provide them separately.

6. Availability and changes

Trax is provided as-is, without warranty of uninterrupted availability. Features may change over time. We will give reasonable notice before material changes to these terms.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trax is not liable for penalties, interest, or losses arising out of your use of the service, including missed deductions or filing errors.
